Takeaway | Scramblin’ veterans, Lexi shows off & DeChambeau putts side-saddle

Ever wanted to know how pros would do in a
scramble? Well it’s your lucky day! I present to you the Franklin Templeton Shootout
where veterans Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly dominated Tiburon Golf Club at 16-under…. Yep, I said a 56. Stricker’s eagle from off the green on 6
added to his and Kelly’s 14 birdies… You could say they were in sync… The veterans joked that they combined for
an age of 99 years-old, meanwhile Lexi Thompson and Bryson DeChambeau are only 44 together. I have to admit it’s pretty cool to see
a female in the field this week for the first time since Annika Sorenstam a decade ago. And Lexi definitely proved she can hang with
the boys… Her partner had people’s attention too. DeChambeau trying out the side saddle putting
stroke this week… Defending champ Brandt Snedeker was showing
off too, draining a 50-footer on 12… And Harris English didn’t even use his putter
on 16… The Franklin Templeton Shootout only consists
of 3 rounds, so PGA TOUR play will end on Saturday this weekend. Each day also has its own format. Thursday was a scramble, Friday will be modified
alternate shot and Saturday is better ball. As always, I’ll see you after the round
for a new episode of The Takeaway.
