TOM BYNUM HAS HAD BACK-TO- BACK CHAMPIONS, HE HAS HIS SITE SET ON NUMBER ONE AT THE SANFORD INTERNATIONAL. HE PARTICIPATED IN TODAY’S PRO- AM EVENT AND CONTINUES TO LEARN THE COURSE THAT HAS CHANGED SO MUCH SINCE HE WAS GOING UP. HE STARTED STRONG AT LAST YEAR’S TOURNAMENT, CARTING A 67, AND CLOSED WITH CONSECUTIVE ROUNDS OF 72. HE FINISHED 45th OVERALL. LAST YEAR I WAS FORCING SOME THINGS I DID NOT KNOW. I DID NOT GET A GOOD FEEL FOR PLAYING THE COURSE AND I THINK PART OF IT WAS DISTRACTED, NOT PICKING ABOUT MY GAME ENOUGH, THINKING ABOUT OTHER THINGS. THIS YEAR, I THINK I WILL BE MORE FOCUSED. A FEW GOLFERS ORDERED MORE ATTENTION, THEN JOHN DALY AFTER WITHDRAWING FROM LAST YEAR’S TOURNAMENT BECAUSE OF INJURY. HE IS DEALING WITH A KNEE INJURY THAT WILL REQUIRE SURGERY. HE HOPES TO CONTEND THIS WEEKEND, BUT HIS SON IS LEE ONE — WON RECENTLY. HIS GRIP IS HIS GRIP, AND HE HIT AS HARD AS HE CAN. THAT IS THE WAY THE GAME IS. WHEN ASKED WHAT ADVICE HE GIVES HIS SON ABOUT THE GAME OF GOLF? I TELL HIM IF YOU DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT I DID YOU WILL BE ANOTHER TECHNICAL IS. THE PRO-AM CONTINUES THURSDAY AND THE TOURNAMENT
