One Stroke Flower Designs on Russian Almond Acrylic Nails

Hi everybody, I’m Kirsty Meakin from Naio Nails. In this video, it all went a bit wrong and that’s why I’m having to record my intro at a later date because we had power cuts, we had accidents and whatever went wrong, could go wrong. I’ll just briefly tell you what we are doing in this video. Basically, we do some gorgeous Russian almond shaped nails with some glitter and some one-stroke nail art. So, I’ve just fitted the sculpting forms for these two nails. We’re gonna match these nails with the design on this hand. So, I’ve dehydrated the nail. I’ve already removed the surface shine before that, so we have actually taken off a set of nails on the lovely Andrea. So, if you can see the colours that we’re going for, it’s like a blue purple and green. Oh my God! That bit of green just makes it go … and pops beautifully. They are the colours we’re gonna continue working with. One of the nails is gonna be completely warm beige. We’re gonna do some one-stroke on that. The other one will have a little bit of the glitter in and a small amount of one stroke on. So, I can show you two different ways of doing the one-stroke on your nails. Pick up a bead, sculpt out the Russian almond shape. One nice big bead to get, basically, get the bulk of the structure down and then I can build up the apex after that with another bead. You smooth it all out. Make sure your brush is damp while you’re doing this. It’ll make it a lot smoother. Tidy up the edges, make sure it’s nice and sharp. And then, with this done, you’d probably think, what are you doing here, because you’re doing this a bit different. So, I’ve got a smaller bead, created the free edge, then I’m going to the back part, by the cuticle. I’m leaving a gap because I’m gonna add a little bit of gorgeous glitter in there. So, I’ve got a mixture of the glitters that we’ve been using in this video And I’m just feeding them into that gap and then encapsulating those with some clear. Look at all that glitter. Oh my God, could i fit any more glitter into that gap? Mind the gap! So yeah, it’s all encapsulated now. So, you can file it, because if you didn’t put any clear acrylic on, you wouldn’t be able to file it, would you? it would have no strength Here we go, we’re gonna file these bad boys now, get em all into shape perfected. Make sure that pinch is nice. See? It wasn’t ready to come off the form, so I can go back to that nail, finish that one and then I can check the other nail afterwards to check that can come off the form. This is generally what I do when I’m doing a full set. I work from one finger to another. We gonna buff over this nail, make it nice and smooth. Right! So, we’re gonna use some poly colour paints. We’re gonna work with the colours that I’ve got on the nails. I’m not entirely sure how many of these colours I’m meant to use. If I just get them all out, how about that? I do know I want to mix like a green that’s like more of a lime green. I know I have one of them. so I’m gonna mix that with a little bit of sap green and brilliant yellow, always brilliant. I now use quite an old brush to mix that with. If you drag your brush across, it will flatten it out and it’ll really spread it, so you know it’s fully mixed. I’ve got navy blue, violet, which is really dark but brilliant violet and lilac. I’ve got a one-stroke brush. I’m gonna prep that by putting it into the water and then pulling it, to go into the water. I’ll pull it along tissue, so it’s slightly damp. And I’m gonna go into navy, then I’m gonna go into that lime green. I’m gonna drag both sides, blending the colour into the brush. Then, I’m gonna use the brush quite flat. And the beauty of one-stroke is, you can go back over, can correct anything and it will also give it a deeper colour. So, we’re gonna do a few of these shapes with this colour and then we’re gonna move to the lilacs. I’m gonna reload as I go, as I see the paint running out and drying out, I will reload. I’m gonna lay them over each other as well, to make sure that each layer is dry before you go over the top or else we’ll make a mess. With the brush, you rinse it because it’s starting to dry in the brush, I’m gonna get nice and clean again. And i can water the paint down We’re gonna use this colour on the other nails as well. So, still using the navy and green combination. Do everything a little bit smaller. Now, I’m gonna change the colour, then gonna go into the dark blue of that into the lilac. We have got some tutorials just on different angles that you can create, when you’re doing one stroke. You wanna check that out. And I’m gonna add some small lilac on to this nail as well. Just some small little pattern-like shape. I’m just gonna add some fine tiny little dots as if they are little pollen. Sort of pink, just pollen. Is that what it is? Nectar. What’s nectar? Is that not to do with with pollen? Adam: Pollen. Kirsty: No! I was gonna do a vine just using a detailing brush. These have a little bit of length on, so you can glide over the nail. What we are gonna do now, seal that in. So, I’m gonna use the urban graffiti topcoat. Now, this is a clever little trick to make your paint last longer. Do a thin coat of the urban graffit top coat and cure it for 20 seconds. And then, bring it back out and do a full repaint for cure. Because it’s not fully set, it’s still a little bit tacky. It actually adheres to each other better and just makes it last longer. So, second coat. And when you put it in this time, you’re gonna do a full cure. I’m gonna finish those two off with cuticle oil. This is the lemon cuticle oil. Rub that in. And I think you’ll agree that those colours really complement each other and it looks really cool on the full set. I especially like this one. This is my favorite one because you’ve got lots of glitter sparkling and then you’ve got it’s surrounded by those flowers. There you are guys. That’s how I combined a bit of one stroke with a bit of glitter, all encapsulated on a full look. I hope you’ve enjoyed that video. Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook and Instagram. And all the products that I’ve used today in this video will be listed below. I’ll see you in the next video. Keep watching. Bye bye!

It’s always so mesmerizing to see someone work with acrylic since I’m a gel gal myself 🤩 I was a huge fan of the Polycolors a couple of years back but then I started painting with gel and I never looked back. But this brings back some nice memories though, it’s a really good product! Beautiful nails ⭐️👌🏻⭐️

Gorgeous set! I like the sped up video + voiceover. If I can make a suggestion, no music during voiceover. Music made it difficult to hear. Love the work!

I’d like to see you do a nail challenge! 4 bowls: one with nail shapes in it, one with themes or color schemes in it, one with different techniques to use (ie 3D, bling, encapsulated stuff, etc, and another with nail types – ie acrylic, gel, tips, transparent, etc… choose one attribute from each bowl and incorporate all 4 into one nail set. It would be an improv nail art challenge!

You make me want to grow out my nails so I can have pretty art like this…..only to have it destroyed by tools. 😔 I'm a mechanic and rarely get to gussy up.

Sorry I'm confused. Is that art acrylics paint or is there a special brand for nails. I'm new to nails 😀

I used to be a pro face and body painter and this is basically the technique we used for flowers and shadows but on a tiny scale. We would also use big round brushes and oval filbert brushes (kind of similar to acrylic brushes tbh) and first get the full brush coated in a light or white color then swirl the tip into progressively darker colors and stamp the whole brush to great these gorgeous gradient petals. Painting flowers is so fun and relaxing, if I didn't have a line and a customer wanted a flower sleeve, I would spend as much time as the customer would allow to do intricate full arm flower designs, it was the best!

Kirsty… I would be very interested to see art that you have done that isn't on a nail. You are incredibly talented all around. I am sure that you have canvas and sculpture of your own. It would be very nice to see your work. Maybe a side video for fans of the art as well as the tutorial. 🦄

This is so pretty. The colors are amazing but not as amazing as your art. The center of the flower is called a stamen. That large area of a flower such as a tulip And daffodil is called stigma. I hope this helps Kirsty. 🤗

I had an accident as a child and I lost the tips of two fingers. One the nail is like a little ball covering the end of my finger. The other one isn't as bad. It's curved kind of like in between a normal nail and the ball nail. Is there anyway to do a set of acrylic nails and include at least one of these nails?

Im still having difficulty with flowers, sculpting and hand painting them. I've been trying for 2 years and still can't get it. I don't know if I'm not holding the brush right or what. 2 years is too long to catch the hang of something so easy. I'll almost embarrassed. Is there a shortcut hack to hands painting flowers???
